About Mugley Pottery
My interest in pottery began with a fascination for its history, especially the Pueblo pottery of the American Southwest. I started with hand-building techniques, then moved primarily into wheel-thrown and sculpted pieces for both functional and decorative use.
My work has always centered on everyday ware that serves a practical purpose, along with whimsical and myth-inspired pieces meant to spark the imagination.
The Mugley line of pottery first came to life in the mid-1970s and continued through the 1990s. During that time, much of the work found new homes through our shops, Mugley Emporium, at two Renaissance Festivals in Texas, through various shows, limited wholesale markets, and our gift and gallery shop.
While my love for pottery never went away, it was sidelined for a number of years by corporate commitments. In 2025, I put aside the corporate hat, pulled my pottery equipment, materials, and supplies out of storage, added a few needed items, and returned to my roots: making Mugley Pottery once again.
Now I am back at the wheel and back in the mud.
I believe in pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo, and supporting excellence in the ceramic arts. This site features videos of my work at various stages, daily life in the pottery, occasional instructional videos, and a showcase of current and future Mugley pieces.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the work.
